April Long – Owner and Pet Lover
I worked as a springboard and platform diving coach for the past 12 years in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. My true passion has always been pets. I have had pets in my life since the day I was born. I have now moved to Austin and am following my dream of owning my own business loving and caring for pets in the community.
For as long as I can remember, I loved animals. I would sit in my backyard in Amarillo, Texas and just talk to all the animals on our land. I named all our cows, brought carrots out to the bunnies, and watch all the different birds chirp back and forth to each other. As I grew older, I started volunteering at local pet stores to help set up kennels and bathe the animals to get them ready for adoption.
When I am not working with animals, I still enjoy coaching. I also love to spend time on Lake Austin wake surfing. My fiance’ and I have two Chihuahuas who believe that they are as big as any other dog out there. Lola is the girl and Vino is the boy Chihuahua. They are so fun and loving to everyone they meet. They are my babies.
Wag Westlake started a couple of years ago with a simple goal; To love your pets as much as we love ours! A few years later, we have a great team of pet care professionals, have reached almost 100 clients and are growing each month.

I read a quote one day that really stuck with me. “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself.” I believe this to be true with all pets. Coming home from a long day of work just to have your pet so incredibly happy to see you, is a joy that can’t be replaced. I strive to give all my clients a piece of mind. Hello! My name is Miriam and I’m studying an International Relations major with a Writing minor at UT. I love spending time outdoors, reading, and I absolutely love hanging out animals.
